The Community Mental Health Nurses provide regular support for mentally ill homeless people living in the community. They also provide assessments of new clients and can refer to Consultant Psychiatrists, Psychologists and other mental health services as appropriate.
Our Mental Health Team offers interventions such as problem solving, symptom monitoring & support, education and advice, cognitive behaviour & approach work.
The team also provide training on mental health issues for hostel staff and community workers.
Referrals are taken from within The Homeless Healthcare Team, direct access hostels and other agencies such as drug & alcohol bodies and approved premises.
Depot injections can be administered at our base or at the client's address.

The Associate Practitioner assists clients with various problems in many ways, below are some of the areas in which she works:
Resettlement - Life skills, budgeting, cooking, maintaining tenancy.
Providing access to leisure/day services.
Helping with benefit issues/form filling.
Acompanying on appointments.
Helping to access appropriate services.
Laura is trained in the field of acupuncture and uses it as an alternative treatment to drug rehabilitation, a service which she offers clients in a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon (free of charge). Laura is also trained in Hopi Ear Candle therapy which can be accessed by referral from a member of the team.
